Walled Garden, Sheriffhall

This late 18th century farmhouse is a two-storey, four-bay rectangular structure that is connected to a walled garden and a range of traditional farm buildings. The farmhouse features skew gables and is constructed from rubble, with polished ashlar long and short quoins. The garden walls, steading, and an adjoining later harled farm building are also made of rubble.

On the southeast elevation, the entrance door is located in the second bay from the left on the ground floor. The windows are arranged regularly across both storeys and at the rear, with a single bay on the southwest elevation. The northeast elevation was not visible in 2000. A central ashlar chimney stack with neck copes and four cans is present.

The farmhouse has 12-pane timber sash and case windows and a slate hipped roof with metal ridging. The rainwater goods have been replaced.

The interior was not seen in 2000.

The walled garden features rectangular rubble walls with shaped top copes, connecting the southwest of the farmhouse to the southeast of the steading, with an entrance leading to the driveway.

The southwest elevation of the steading includes a range of three buildings: a later single-storey four-bay lean-to with two bays on the left, a door and a single bay on the right, and a blind left return and rear. Adjoining this is a two-storey traditional rectangular steading, which has a painted boarded door on the first storey to the left and a roof light to the right. There is also a single-storey rectangular-plan cottage within the garden boundary, featuring a short rubble gablehead chimney with a single can. The rear elevation was not seen in 2000.

The main building has a rooflight on the southwest side, with a piended pantiled roof, while the lower southeast building has a piended slate roof, and the lean-to on the northwest cottage also features a piended roof.
