Description

51 Eskbank Road is a mid to late 19th century, two-storey, three-bay gabled villa. The building features squared and snecked rubble with ashlar dressings, a base course, and stop-chamfered margins. It has coped half-pitched roofs over projecting windows.

On the west elevation facing Eskbank Road, there is a gabled porch at the center with a hoodmoulded pointed-arched doorway to the west, which has a boarded door. To the right of the porch, there is a window. At the first floor, there is a small window in the center. The gabled bay to the left is slightly advanced and includes a bipartite window set in a projecting ashlar panel at the ground level, along with a hoodmoulded bipartite window at the first floor. The bay to the right features a canted window at the ground level and a dormer-headed, hoodmoulded bipartite window at the first floor.

The east elevation has an advanced gabled bay to the left with a window in the advanced panel at the ground level and a corbelled oriel window at the first floor, which has a slate roof. The gabled bay to the right includes windows on both floors.

The villa showcases various sized glazing patterns in sash and case windows, sawtooth skews on the gables and dormer heads, and coped gablehead stacks that are advanced from the wall on corbels to the south. The roof is covered with purple-grey slates, and it retains its original cans and rainwater goods.

The boundary walls and gatepiers consist of a rubble wall that is semicircular coped to the right on Eskbank Road, while the left side features a low wall that is saddlebank coped. The gatepiers are saddleback-capped ashlar.
