Description
The Robertson Mausoleum, located in the churchyard of the Old High Kirk on Church Street in Inverness, dates back to 1660 and is a classical structure of provincial type. It is enclosed by the rear wall of No. 115, the church, the gable of Greyfriars Free Church, and two screen walls. The screen walls are made of ashlar and feature open, columned sections above a base, topped with a cornice and entablature. The columns on the west side have crudely carved capitals that depict fleshy foliage, while the frieze is decorated with symbols of mortality. On the south side, there is an architraved entrance flanked by columns adorned with vine leaves. Inside, there is a fine mural monument from the late 17th century.
