Description
This is a mid-to-late 19th century, asymmetrical, two-storey and three-bay dwelling, originally the Episcopal Rectory at Ballachulish. The building is constructed of rubble with tooled dressings. The north-facing elevation features a pointed-headed entrance located near the centre, flanked by transomed and mullioned tripartite windows. An advanced, slightly projecting gabled bay to the east contains a similar bipartite window on its first floor. Two gabletted dormers are present. Transomed and mullioned tripartite and bipartite windows are also found in the west gable, and a four-light window occupies the ground floor of the east elevation, alongside a single dormer mirroring the front. Hoodmoulds are applied to all principal windows, and the glazing consists of single and four panes. Tall ridge and end stacks feature string course detailing, and the roofs are steeply pitched with local slate. A later two-storey, single-bay wing extends to the southwest of the main building. A long, white-washed rubble single-storey range of former offices runs across the rest of the rear, likely representing a former dwelling. Deeds of the property date to 1843, possibly referring to the rear range.
