Description

Syre Church is a late 19th century corrugated-iron church, notable as a good example of the material's use in construction. It has long, three-bay north and south elevations. The exterior is painted with contrasting margins. A small gabled porch is situated on the east gable, containing a centrally positioned, pointed-headed entrance. Pointed-headed windows with decorative leaded glazing are present in the side elevations. The roof is corrugated iron with simple cast-iron ridge brattishing and apex finials. The church is enclosed by a dry stone wall, and a granite monument stands on a stepped base nearby. The building remains in ecclesiastical use and is officially known as the Church of Scotland.
