Description
Etive Bridge, built between 1931 and 1932 by engineers James McGregor, Lewis R Sutherland, and W H Hunt, is a single bowed-truss reinforced concrete bridge with a span of 99 feet (30.5 meters).
The side girders feature massive arched upper members supported by eight suspenders and a slab deck that includes eight transverse stiffening ribs. Below the deck, there is a continuous tie beam. The parapet between the suspenders has a plinth, while the spandrels are adorned with arched openings, with eight per section, and a plain coping.
The abutments consist of paired monumental panelled pylons set on a plain base, with revetments made of face-dressed granite boulders.
