Description
Glenleraig Cottage is a single-story, three-bay post-clearance cottage likely dating to around 1842. A further bay, windowed only at the rear, has been added to the left side. The cottage is constructed of harled, whitewashed rubble, with a door in the front (northwest) elevation flanked by two windows. A small lean-to addition of rubble construction is attached to the southwest gable, along with a wooden lean-to at the rear. The windows are 4-pane sash and case style. The roof is covered with renewed slates, and there are two harled chimney stacks. A range of associated outbuildings, also of rubble construction with corrugated sheet metal roofs, are located to the north.
The cottage was probably built in 1842 in connection with the creation of a single farm, following the clearance of local settlements.
