Description

Ousdale Farm is a tall, two-storey, three-bay house dated 1804. The exterior is white harled with tooled, white-painted ashlar margins. The centre doorway is masked by a later projecting canted porch with a front window and side entrance. There are single ground and first-floor east gable windows, featuring four-pane glazing, and two large skylights face the front. A single-storey later rear extension with a catslide roof extending the full length of the rear elevation is present, with a central entrance flanked by windows. End stacks and a substantial wallhead stack serving the rear extension are visible, and the roof is slate. The date is inscribed on a skewputt. The front skylights likely replaced dormers. The house was built by James Anderson, who developed the Rispond Fishing Station in the late 18th and early 19th centuries in Durness Parish, Sutherland.
