Description

The New Bridge at Invergloy is a high, single-span bridge built in 1841 by engineer Joseph Mitchell. It carries the A82 road over the River Gloy. The bridge is primarily constructed of bull-faced rubble stone with tooled ashlar stone dressings. The arch ring is of tooled ashlar stone. Concrete was used to widen the bridge circa 1930, and this later work was faced with masonry to match the original appearance. The bridge includes a bull-faced rubble parapet. An advertisement for tenders appeared in the Inverness Journal on 16 April 1841.
