Description
Probably designed by Alexander Ross in the 1870s to 1880s, Struy Primary School and Schoolhouse is an asymmetrical building originally comprising a two-bay, two-storey schoolhouse to the south and a three-bay school to the north. The two sections are now combined as a single dwelling. The exterior is primarily harl-pointed rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. The schoolhouse features an advanced gabled bay containing a gabled entrance porch in the re-entrant angle. It has pointed-headed bipartites on both the ground and first floors. The school section has a hoodmoulded door, which has been converted into a window, positioned off-centre; a pointed-headed bipartite is set within a shallow recess in the outer gabled bay. The windows have varied glazing, and there are ridge and wallhead stacks. The building is topped with a slate roof.
