Description
The Old Kiachnish Bridge, near Coruanan, is an earlier-mid 19th century single-span rubble bridge. It features a segmental, single tooled ashlar arch ring springing from tooled ashlar abutments. An ashlar string course runs along the top of the bridge, and there are square tooled ashlar parapets, slightly splayed at the approaches, along with shallow end buttresses. The span of the bridge is approximately 45 feet. Some of the masonry is falling away on the north-eastern side. The bridge is now bypassed by a modern concrete bridge built in 1933 further downstream. The statutory address for the bridge is Kiachnish Bridge (Old) over River Kiachnish near Coruanan.
