Description
Talisker House is a building with an early 18th century core and later additions. It features harled walls with ashlar dressings and stands two storeys high with an attic, comprising six wide bays. The front (west) elevation includes a two-bay piended projecting wing, which has a porch in the left re-entrant and a single-storey addition with five long multi-pane windows in the right re-entrant, along with a bow window at the center of the wing. Both the wing and the bow window have crenellated parapets. The roof has five piended dormers with decoratively carved wood jambs, two stair windows at the rear, and features 12-pane and lying pane glazing, along with end and ridge stacks, all beneath a slate roof.
Inside, the projecting front wing, which dates from around 1780, contains a dining room on the ground floor and a drawing room above. The drawing room is notable for its original ornate plaster ceiling, while the dining room's plaster ceiling dates from 1865, coinciding with the addition of the bow window.
