Description
South Range, Steading, Glenbrittle House is a late 18th century, two-storey, three-bay house with a central door and harled exterior. The symmetrical front is connected to a single-storey, attic three-bay cottage on the right (north) and a single-storey farm building on the left, creating a U-shaped courtyard. The house features 12-pane glazing, end stacks, and a slate roof.
At the rear, there is an early 19th century, two-storey, three-bay block that has been added to the east elevation, effectively doubling the size of the house. This block is constructed of pink (Soay?) ashlar and has a symmetrical front with a central door and a square projecting, piended porch. It includes large ground floor windows, smaller first floor windows, 12-pane glazing, paired ridge stacks, and a piended slate roof.
To the south, the U-plan steading is enclosed by a high wall made of coursed rubble and features an outside stair to the loft, topped with a slate roof. There is also a former stable wing to the north.
