Description

The Plough Inn, located on Mill Road in Rosemarkie, was built in 1907. This two-storey building is constructed of rubble and features three bays with a central door. On the first floor, there are two large canted oriel windows with fishscale-slated dormer heads and wrought-iron finials, which flank a plaque in the center bay. At the rear, facing down Bridge Street, the inn is connected to two cottages; the western cottage dates from the early to mid-19th century, while the eastern cottage is from the mid-19th century. A two-storey porch was added to the western cottage around 1907. Each cottage has three bays with a central door, with two piended dormers on the eastern cottage and one on the western. Both buildings have slated roofs.

Inside, the entrance features two-leaf screen doors with etched glass panels that lead to a small public bar. This bar retains its original semicircular counter and back gantry, along with boarded timber walls and ceiling. There is a fireplace with a large lintel dated 1691 and a mirror above it. Additionally, there is a small urinal located at the rear of the bar.
