Description
1-4 Lochside Cottages in Ballachulish, known as Cnap An Tairbh, date from the later 19th century, specifically before 1870. They consist of three groups of lean-to mono-pitched boat houses or stores located on the shore at Cnap and Tairbh, to the north of Lochside Cottages and east of Lochside House. The boat houses feature thick and battered blue-grey Ballachulish slate walls, made from quarry refuse and constructed as dry-stone, with roofs covered in slate slabs. As of 2001, the structures were in poor condition. The houses are arranged in runs with shared walls, as well as individually, showing signs of occasional ruinous or roofless sections. Nine of the boat houses still have roofs and doors, with the doors made from roughly boarded timber and corrugated sheet metal.
