Description
Ardullie Lodge is an earlier/mid-18th century building, possibly incorporating older fabric. It is a 2-storey and attic structure with an irregular 5-bay south elevation, characterised by paired windows except for the right-hand outer bay. A contemporary centre rear wing is flanked by near-contemporary, wider gabled extensions, creating a triple-gabled rear elevation. A further, continuous, lower 2-storey, 6-bay wing extends northwards. The exterior is harled with contrasting painted ashlar margins, simply chamfered on the front elevation. The central front door is concealed behind a modern porch that incorporates an overmantel dated 1688. A similar, re-used mantel dated 1669 is found above the rear door. The windows are mostly 12-pane sash windows, with three modern swept dormers in the front roofline. The roof is slate-covered and features crowsteps, cavetto skewputts, and corniced end stacks. The overmantels bear the Monro eagle and initials HM FM, representing Munro of Foulis and Ardullie. A 1946 date-stone on the west elevation marks some later alterations to the property.
