Description
The remains of a dovecot and steading at Tarradale Mains date back to the late 18th century. The structure features an octagonal tower built on a square base, which includes a round-headed archway leading to the former farm square. The exterior is constructed from pointed rubble with ashlar dressings. There are six flight holes grouped in the center of the south wall, and the entrance is located at the center rear. The building has a plain eaves cornice and an octagonal ogee slate roof topped with a central fish wind vane, although the direction pointers are missing.
Inside, the dovecot contains nesting boxes and a central tree of potence, which is a revolving ladder. The structure is flanked by coped rubble walls.
