Strathmore Lodge

Strathmore Lodge is a late 19th-century shooting lodge of a rambling design, with subsequent remodelling. It features a two-story, three-bay south-facing front and a four-story drum tower positioned at the southwestern angle. The exterior is predominantly harled with ashlar dressings. The central bay projects forward and has a crowstep gable, with a moulded and lugged ashlar doorpiece featuring a segmental-headed, keystoned pediment and a bipartite window above the door. The drum tower has three windows on each of the ground, first, and second stories. The upper stage of the drum tower is constructed of corbelled ashlar and incorporates gabled lucarnes, topped by a conical, bellcast slate roof with a finial. Extensive ranges extend to the rear and are linked to a square tower by a section of wall. This rear tower is three stories high, with a white harled exterior, an ashlar corbelled and crenellated parapet, and corbelled angle bartizans. Windows have either four- or 12-pane glazing. Coped end stacks and slate roofs are present. The lodge appears as it is currently configured on the first edition Ordnance Survey map of 1871.
