Description
The Loy Bridge, built between 1803 and 1804, is a single-span humpback bridge carrying the road between Locheil and Loch-na-Gaul (the early name for Arisaig). Constructed by Thomas Telford, it is built of rubble with a dressed rubble segmental headed arch springing from abutments. The bridge features a low dressed rubble parapet and splayed approaches. The road it serves was initially started by local landowners in 1803 and subsequently completed by the Commissioners for Highlands Roads and Bridges between 1804 and 1805.
