5, 5B Cleveden Gardens, Glasgow

5 and 5B Cleveden Gardens in Glasgow is a late 19th-century villa featuring classical details across its storeys and attic. The exterior is constructed of lightly stugged ashlar with polished margins and smooth rusticated quoins.

The north elevation has three bays and includes steps leading to a porch with Corinthian balustrades that is unfluted. The entrance features double-leaf panelled doors and a vestibule door with a glazed tripartite design. Flanking the door are two-storey projecting windows with incised apron panels on the first floor; the left window is square, while the right is canted. Above the porch, there is an architraved bipartite window. The sash windows throughout have plate glass glazing. The building has strings at the eaves and wide timber bracketted eaves. The attic contains a billiard room with a piended roof, and there are tall corniced axial stacks with octagonal cans, all beneath slate roofs.

On the west flank, there are steps leading to a first-floor entrance of a modern one-bay, two-storey addition. The remaining windows on this side are either bi-partite or tripartite.

The garden is enclosed by a coped droved ashlar wall, which features a pair of full square corniced ashlar gatepiers.
