Former Janitor's House To Former Woodside Public School, 30 Eldon Street, Glasgow

The former Janitor's House to the former Woodside Public School, located at 30 Eldon Street in Glasgow, was designed by Robert Dalglish and dates from 1882. This two-storey building is styled in the Jacobean manner and has a flat-iron shape, connecting with the main school. It features stugged ashlar stonework with polished margins and quoins. The windows have roll-moulded architraves and aprons, with stone mullions.

The building has a narrow, bowed elevation facing Eldon Street, which includes a bipartite window on each floor and a dated tablet with scroll decorations above the cornice. The side elevations are two bays wide. There is an entrance portico at the side or rear, supported by square-section ashlar columns, with an entablature and parapet above. An ashlar wall section adjoins the building.

The windows are plate glass sash and case style, and there is a corniced ashlar stack at the wallhead. The roof is covered with grey slates.

The property also features gatepiers and railings, which consist of square-section ashlar piers with a panelled neck, a cornice, and a tapered base topped with a ball finial. The decorative railings are made of heavy cast iron and are set on an ashlar dwarf wall.
