116-120 Argyle Street, Glasgow

116-120 Argyle Street in Glasgow is a Renaissance style warehouse designed by William Spence in 1873. The building stands four storeys tall, with a modern attic and a shop front at ground level.

The facade is symmetrical, featuring eight bays on the first, second, and third floors arranged in a 3-2-3 pattern. The exterior is made of ashlar stone. There is evidence of a former porch below the cills of the central bipartite windows on the first floor, which have pilastered jambs. Each group of windows is flanked by carved panels with shell motifs in the entablature above.

The second floor has round-arched windows with attached column jambs and masque keystones, with each group flanked by paired, attached Ionic columns and an entablature above. The third floor mirrors the second but features segmental-headed windows and lacks a frieze below the cornice. The main dentil cornice is supported by paired brackets, with a slightly projecting segmental pediment over the central bays that breaks into the parapet. There is a regrettable flat-roofed attic addition.
