Description

Reconstructed circa 1870-75, altered James Thomson 1885.

3-storey basement and mansard attic, 5-bay commercial

building. Classical. Central entry to West Regent Street, at

level of steps oversailing basement, with Roman Ionic, 2/3rds

fluted columns to swagged portico with paterae in frieze and

modillion cornice. Sash and case windows; ground and 1st

floor in architraves, corniced at ground floor; consoled 1st;

2nd floor windows on moulded cill band with margins stepped

up over lintels, continuous moulded eaves architrave. Eaves

cornice. Original basement shop.

IRREGULAR 9-BAY RETURN TO WELLINGTON STREET: consoled

doorpiece, some blind, some 2-light windows with stone

mullions. 1st and 2nd, 7th and 8th bays paired windows.
