Nazareth House Convent, 1647 Paisley Road, Glasgow

Nazareth House Convent, dated 1900, was built as a home for the aged, the poor, and destitute children, located in the grounds of Maryland House. The building is two storeys with an attic and features a long, nearly symmetrical front set back from the street. It has two-window bays separated by buttresses and three wall-head gables. The mansard roof includes swept-roofed dormers, and there is a central entrance with a sculptured figure above it. The windows are sash, with segmental arches on the ground floor. There are flanking recessed square bays, with the right bay featuring a narrow gable. To the west, there is a low link to a chapel built in 1922, which has a chancel rose window facing the street and paired lancets on the flanks. The building is constructed of stone-cleaned bull-faced red ashlar and has slate roofs. A boundary wall with wrought-iron railings connects stone piers.
