Description

Begun 1869, a crescent with end blocks and stepped to

slope. 3-storeys and basement; polished ashlar, part

stone-cleaned, channelled at ground floor; some bays

canted full-height with steep individual roofs (possibly

more decorative than now originally); hoods to upper

floor windows, with sculptured consoles at 1st. Plate

glass sashes; stone-bracketted eaves; decorative stacks;

slate roofs. Iron railings to basement area and to steps

(these are in pairs or in 3's, treads on metal girders)

have anthemion pattern. Detailing continued on flank to

Langside Road.
