Description
The Bank of Scotland, located at 172 Ingram Street in Glasgow, is a commercial property designed by architect William Burn in 1828. This three-storey, five-bay building features a shop front on the ground floor. The exterior is finished in polished ashlar, which is painted and channelled on the outer ground bays. The advanced end bays have round-arched doorways, with the right doorway now converted into a glazed window. The central bays have a glazed shopfront. All windows are single light with raised margins and are corniced on the first floor. The end bays are flanked by giant pilaster strips beside the windows. The windows are sash and case style with four-pane glazing. Additional architectural details include a band course above the second floor, an eaves cornice, and a deep plain parapet with die piers. The roof is slate.
