Description
23 Lynedoch Street is a house dating from around 1845, part of the terrace that includes numbers 21 to 27. The building has three storeys, an attic, and a basement. It features six bays, with a five-bay side facing Lynedoch Terrace. The exterior is made of polished ashlar, with the basement painted. Steps lead down to a Greek Doric porch that has a full entablature. All windows are architraved, with those at the ground floor having aprons, cornices, and consoles, while the first-floor windows are corniced. The windows are sash style with four-pane glazing. A continuous string course runs along the second-floor cills, and there is a main cornice and a blocking course at the top. The building has axial stacks and a slate roof, along with cast-iron railings surrounding the basement and steps. The ground floor windows on the Lynedoch Place side do not have consoles but are otherwise similarly detailed. The entrance to the basement at number 23 is wide and corniced, flanked by fluted pilasters, with piers that support a decorative cast-iron arch leading to the basement steps.
