Description
Rutherford Church Hall, located at 9 Armadale Street, was built in 1874 by James Salmon and Son as a Free Church. It features an Early English Gothic style and is situated on a corner site. The building has a square tower with a stone spire that reaches 150 feet in height. The halls to the north were rebuilt after 1899 and also have a gable facing Armadale Street. The exterior is constructed of snecked ashlar with polished dressings and has slate roofs. The three-stage tower is buttressed and has pinnacles at the base of the spire. Above the deeply recessed main door, there is a stepped three-light gable window. The north side facing Roslea Drive has a plain appearance with a gable on the right. The hall features a central door and three tall lancet windows.
Inside, the hall has a gallery on three sides supported by cast-iron columns, which have a panelled front and some exposed roof timbers. The pulpit is located at the west end, and there is an organ by Willis of London, which was previously situated at Trinity Duke Street Church.
