Description
29 Buccleuch Street is a three-storey and basement tenement building, constructed around 1855, located on a corner. The building features 12 by 14 bays and is made of polished ashlar, with a channelled ground floor. It has sash and case windows, primarily with 12-pane glazing. The basement has been altered to accommodate ground floor shops on Rose Street, and there is a cill band at the ground floor.
On the elevation facing Rose Street, the fourth bay from the north is blind on the first and second floors. There is a cornice band at the ground floor, with corniced and architraved windows on the first floor, and third floor windows set within margins on the cill band. The building has a main cornice and a blocking course, along with a corniced wallhead stack.
The elevation facing Buccleuch Street has bays arranged in a 9-5 stepped slope. The first bay from the east is blind, and the second bay is blind at the second floor. The detailing matches that of the Rose Street elevation, and there is a corniced wallhead stack and end stacks. The roof is slate.
