Description
Lambhill Bridge, built in 1930 by engineer T Somers, carries the A879 over the Forth and Clyde Canal. It is a single-leaf bascule bridge featuring a steel-plate girder lifting span. The footpaths are cantilevered from the main girders and have light steel railings. The abutments are made of massive concrete, with concrete parapets on the south side. The bridge has pylons with flat pyramidal tops at the ends of the swing span. On the north side, the canal towpath runs under the bridge, supported by concrete wing walls that are parallel to the canal.
