Description

73 Waterloo Street in Glasgow is a modern classical office building designed by McInnes Gardner between 1927 and 1930. It stands five stories tall and features a layout of 10 by 12 bays. The building is constructed of ashlar stone, with the ground level channelled along Blythswood Street and finished with polished granite on the ground floor facing Waterloo Street.

The façade includes a wide central door flanked by four wide windows. The first floor has doors and is detailed with architraved and corniced elements, while the second and third floors are plainer. The eaves create a gallery effect with five by six windows separated by fluted panels. A deep modillion cornice and a blocking course complete the top of the building. However, the modern glazing is considered out of keeping with the overall design.

On the elevation facing Blythswood Street, there are two wide, shallow arched windows at the ground floor level.
