Description

Circa 1875. Astylar Thomsonesque terrace of 3-bay houses,

truncated at S. 2 storeys, attic and basement. Polished

ashlar, stonecleaned.

Steps oversailing basement to central doorpiece with advanced

Ionic columns; double-leaf panelled doors. Flanking doors at

ground, 2 canted windows with deep parapet. These and the 2

Ionic columns support an ashlar balcony, full-width to each

house, though not continuous between houses. Single light

windows to 1st floor regularly placed across whole terrace.

Sash windows, plate glass glazing. Continuous cornice over

1st; string courses over ground and 1st. Plain main cornice;

axial stacks, slate roofs.

Cast-iron railings to steps and basement; good Thomsonesque

cast-iron balustrade to balconies at Nos 50 and 51.
