50 Westbourne Gardens West, Glasgow

51 Westbourne Gardens West is a terrace of three houses built around 1875, designed in an astylar Thomsonesque style. The building is two storeys high with an attic and basement, and features polished ashlar stone that has been cleaned.

The entrance includes steps that oversail the basement, leading to a central doorpiece flanked by advanced Ionic columns and double-leaf panelled doors. On either side of the central door, there are two canted windows topped with a deep parapet. The Ionic columns support a full-width ashlar balcony for each house, although the balconies are not continuous between the houses.

The first floor has single light windows that are regularly placed across the entire terrace, and all windows are sash with plate glass glazing. There is a continuous cornice above the first floor, along with string courses over both the ground and first floors. The main cornice is plain, and there are axial stacks with slate roofs.

The property features cast-iron railings leading to the steps and basement, as well as a notable Thomsonesque cast-iron balustrade on the balconies of Nos 50 and 51.
