Johnstone Lodge, Chalmers Brae, Anstruther Easter

Johnstone Lodge, located on Chalmers Brae in Anstruther Easter, is a building that may have been designed by George Smith in 1829, with a porch created by a local artisan slightly later. The east wing, constructed around 1900, was designed by Gillespie and Scott. The lodge is two stories tall with a basement and features a three-window facade that is harled with margins. The central bay is advanced and made of ashlar, supporting a porch with Roman Doric columns and elaborate traceried glazing. The Edwardian east wing includes a balustraded south ground floor bay and a large east ingleneuk. The interior showcases intricate craftsmanship. The building has piended slated roofs, and the garden walls are of an earlier date.
