Description
Cottage No 1, located in David Scrymgeour Wedderburn Memorial Square in Balmerino, was built in 1948 by H.J. Scrymgeour Wedderburn, the Earl of Dundee. This traditional single-storey cottage features harled walls with margins and arched doorpieces that include fanlights. The roof is pantiled. The northern range consists of three cottages with a piend roof, while the eastern range also has three cottages with a piend roof and a central tetrastyle Roman Doric portico with a pediment that was previously located at Birkhill. The southern cottage has four windows and a central door. There is a rubble linking wall, a front wall, and steps, along with late Georgian cast-iron urns positioned at the terminal piers.
