22-24 Main Street, West Wemyss

22-24 Main Street in West Wemyss is a row of four uniform, two-storey, three-bay houses built in the early 19th century, with alterations made to the rear by A Stewart Tod around 1940. The buildings are harled with painted margins.

On the northwest elevation facing Main Street, houses 22 to 32 feature a central bay with a panelled timber door; those at numbers 30 and 32 have a fanlight above the door. To the right of the door is a small adjacent window, with a window in the bay to the right and a bipartite window to the left. The first floor has regular fenestration. Houses 34 and 36 also have a panelled timber door in the centre and windows in the flanking bays, with regular fenestration on the first floor.

On the southeast elevation facing the shore, houses 22 to 32 have a later dramatic curving forestair leading to the first-floor entrance, along with a segmental-headed understair door. For houses 34 and 36, the forestair has been removed, exposing rubble in the centre bay.

All windows are currently blinded for protection. The roofs are covered with pantiles, and there are coped harled stacks with some cans and ashlar-coped skews. Houses 22 to 28 feature cast-iron downpipes and decorative rainwater hoppers.
