North-West Gate And Gatepiers, Ravenscraig Park, Kirkcaldy

The South-West Gate and gatepiers at Ravenscraig Park in Kirkcaldy date from the 19th century and include sections that may be from the 16th century. The walls are made of random and coursed rubble topped with flat and semicircular ashlar coping.

The northwest gate was reconstructed in 1929 and features quadrant walls with pyramidal-coped, square-section ashlar gatepiers. The northeast gate, likely also reconstructed in 1929, has similar features but includes a low wall and decorative cast-iron railings to the west, along with a gas lamp bracket on the west pier.

The southeast gate, associated with Ravenscraig Nursery, has older sandstone ashlar gatepiers topped with tall pyramidal coping. Nearby, there is a blocked pedestrian gateway with a carved stone over the lintel, which displays a shield flanked by the initials 'IF' and 'SI', and is dated 15(?)88.
