Description

Dated 1890. Stugged, squared rubble with random rubble to sides and rear, polished and dressed margins. 2-storey, 8-bay terrace of 4 crowstepped houses on ground falling to W. Eaves course. Corbels, raised and tabbed margins, stop-chamfered arrises and stone mullions.

S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical. Nos 17 and 19 to left of centre with paired deep-set panelled timber doors and plate glass fanlights at centre below small bipartite window breaking eaves to dated and fleur-de-lys finialled dormerhead; flanking bays each with slightly advanced canted tripartite window below moulded panel and corbelled to square at 1st floor with window breaking eaves into ball-finialled crowstepped gablet. Nos 21 and 23 undated but mirror above in all other detail.

E ELEVATION: gabled elevation with left pitch crowstepped, and margined window to centre at 1st floor.

W ELEVATION: mirrors E elevation.

N ELEVATION: symmetrical fenestration at 1st floor with projecting, single storey, pitch-roofed outbuildings at ground.

Plate glass glazing in timber sash and case windows to S ground floor except No 21, and to Nos 19 and 23 at 1st floor and to N elevation; top-opening timber windows elsewhere. Grey slates. Coped ashlar skews with moulded skewputts and ashlar-coped stacks with full complement of cans. Cast-iron downpipes with decorative rainwater hoppers and fixings, except to SE at No 23.

BOUNDARY WALLS: low ashlar-coped boundary walls to S, coped rubble boundary walls elsewhere.
