Description

The gatehouse at Pittenweem Priory dates back to the 15th century, with a southwest outshot added in the 17th century and further alterations made later. It is a two-storey structure with an ashlar front. The central feature is an arched pend, flanked by chambers. The building has a machicolated parapet walk and a lean-to pantiled roof over the courtyard. It has been restored, and an oak door has been fitted.
