Description
St John's Episcopal Church, located on Marygate in Pittenweem, was built in 1805. The church features a Gothick style and originally had a rectangular shape. The exterior is harled, with the northern entrance gable made of droved ashlar, which includes decorative angle roundels and pinnacles. A later porch was added, and the southern chancel is shallow, also adorned with angle roundels. The church was reconstructed in 1869, during which it was re-oriented with a chancel addition at the center of the eastern wall. Inside, there is a hammer-beam roof and traceried windows. The pulpit and other furnishings in the chancel were added in 1924, designed by Sir Robert Lorimer. Additionally, there is a 15th-century panel inset on the western wall.
