Description

This is a mid to later 19th century farm steading situated at Easter Cash. The complex consists of several ranges arranged around a courtyard. It is composed of an 8-bay granary and cartshed range to the northeast, linked right-angled ranges to the southeast, and a parallel range to the southwest. A further small, piended range is situated on the north side of the courtyard.

The steading is constructed from squared and snecked, coursed and random sandstone rubble with droved and stugged quoins. Cart arch piers are of sandstone ashlar with weathered, stop-chamfered arrises. Boarded timber doors feature throughout. Roofing materials vary across the ranges including graded grey slates, corrugated asbestos, grey slates, clay pantiles, and asbestos.

The northeast range, housing the cartshed and granary, has a graded grey slate roof. The south (courtyard) elevation features a series of 8 segmental-headed cart arches, with a sliding door and wide arched entrance on the outer right. The first-floor hayloft openings have small-pane hoppers, except for bay 5, which has a boarded timber door. A slightly recessed lower range to the outer left has a door to the right and a window to the left, adjoining the gable of the southwest range beyond.

The north elevation has an advanced gable to the left of centre, with a door to the right and a lean-to shed to the left. A stone forestair is situated in the re-entrant angle, leading to a first-floor door. A lower range to the outer right presents a shouldered brick wallhead stack, with the southwest range adjoining beyond.

The southeast range is piended, with a mix of grey slates and corrugated asbestos roofing. Its south elevation incorporates a cart arch in the bay to the right, four blinded openings to the left, a higher blank bay to the outer left and a chamfered corner with a moulded stop to the outer right. The east (road) elevation has a lower centre range with small ventilation openings close to the eaves, a wide entrance arch with a door to the right, flanked by taller, blank bays.

The west elevation displays a piended range to the right with a broad door, and a linked gabled range to the left raised above the eaves, featuring a brick gable and an asbestos roof. The north (courtyard) elevation includes a small piended, pantiled range to the left, a projecting bay to the outer left with a door on its return, a modern shelter shed to the right, and a lower piended bay with a door to the outer right.

The southwest range has grey slates and clay pantiles. Its south elevation presents a gabled cart arch and door below a 3-hole pigeon loft with a small stone platform in the gablehead, a small door to the right, a two-leaf sliding door beyond, and a similar sliding door to the left of centre with a gabled cart arch and a door to the outer left.

The west elevation of the southwest range shows a piended, pantiled shelter shed with a large sliding door to the centre and three timber-louvered air vents to the roof ridge. The east elevation displays a 6-bay cattle court facing the courtyard, with cobbled sets. There is a blinded broad entrance to bay 4, with small openings to the remaining bays, and a later shelter shed to the right adjoining a gabled range to the outer right. The north elevation includes a two-leaf door to the left of centre at ground level.
