Description

Creich Farm Steading is a farm building complex dating from the earlier to mid 19th century. It consists of single and two-storey linked parallel ranges, with an additional range to the south. The structure is built from coursed and random whinstone rubble, featuring dressed ashlar quoins and topped with red pantile roofs.

The west range, which includes the cartshed and granary, has a courtyard elevation with four shallow segmental cart arches grouped to the right of the center. Above the left arch, there is a stone forestair leading to a first-floor door, with hayloft openings above the arches to the right. To the left of center, there is another opening, which marks the site of a former polygonal horsemill.

On the west elevation, the ground rises steeply to the south. There are four small openings near the eaves to the left of center, a blocked opening close to the ground, and another window to the right.

The south elevation features a gable end with broad openings and a boarded timber door.

The north range consists of cattle courts, with the south elevation displaying a seven-bay, piend-roofed layout. The outer left bay has been altered from a bothy. The center bay has a wide raised opening, while the right side has a blank bay and two outer bays, each with wide openings and boarded timber doors. There is a small door in the bay to the left of center, with another raised opening beyond, and a taller range to the outer left that includes a broad sliding boarded timber door.

The west elevation, which was formerly a bothy, has five bays. The ground floor features boarded timber doors flanking the center bay, which has a window, and additional windows in the outer bays. The first floor has small windows in bays one, three, and five, with taller windows above the doors.

The north elevation faces a slope leading to the west and includes a variety of openings, along with a lectern dovecote located immediately to the northeast.
