Description

2 King Edward Street in Markinch is a pair of semi-detached houses built in the earlier to mid-20th century. They are single storey with an attic and feature three bays, designed symmetrically around a central point. The exterior is constructed from dressed, squared, and snecked rubble, with polished ashlar quoins and a base course.

The south elevation, which serves as the entrance, has a symmetrical design with two roll-moulded, round-headed doorcases at the center. Each doorcase contains a panelled timber door and a semicircular plate glass fanlight above. Above these, there are two windows set within a prominent gablehead. The bays on either side of the entrance feature slate-roofed canted windows.

On the east elevation, there is a moulded stone tablet carved with the name "Victoria Villa" positioned above ground floor height to the left, along with two windows at the gablehead. The west elevation also includes two windows at the gablehead.

The windows are timber sash and case, featuring a 6- and 8-pane glazing pattern in the upper sashes and 2-pane lower sashes. The roof is covered with grey slates and has a terracotta ridge. The chimneys are cavetto coped ashlar stacks with cans, complemented by plain bargeboarding and overhanging eaves.

Surrounding the property are low saddleback-coped rubble boundary walls.
