Description
36 Nethergate in Kinghorn is an 18th-century, three-storey, three-bay small tenement that is part of an irregular terrace, situated on ground that slopes steeply to the southeast. The building features lined and painted render.
The northeast elevation, which serves as the entrance, has a central bay at ground level with three steep steps leading up to a timber door that has a carved lintel inscribed with '17 IH LH 5?' beneath a smaller glazed fanlight. This entrance is flanked by small windows, with an additional small window to the outer right and a pend entrance to the outer left. Above, there are windows in the outer bays on each floor, and a broad timpany gable is present at the centre.
On the southwest elevation, the lower gable projects into the raised ground level and features two windows on the first floor, along with a gablehead stack.
The building has a mix of four-pane, eight-pane, and plate glass glazing patterns in timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with clay pantiles, and the stacks are coped and rendered, with the rear stack raised in brick and fitted with cans.
