Description

Earlsneuk is a large Victorian villa dated 1883, notable for its distinctive design. The building is two-storey, constructed from whin rubble with ashlar dressings and stugged quoins. The east entrance elevation is symmetrical with three bays, featuring a central door framed by a scroll moulded architrave and a stepped hoodmould that includes a date panel. Above the door, there is a low window with three narrow lights. The outer gables have bipartite windows with relieving arches on the ground floor, and the straight skews have scroll apices and moulded skew ends.

The south elevation is also symmetrical, with four bays and a two-window centre gable that has a tall stack and relieving arches at the openings. The outer sections feature two-storey, three-light conical roofed bows with continuous slated hoods below the first-floor sills. There is a set-back, two-storey one-window gable and a rear wing to the left, which has two windows with gablet dormerheads at the back. The north elevation includes four windows, with a tall pointed stair window second from the left, a one-window gable to the right, and a single-storey gabled rear wing. The roof is slated, with skews and corniced ashlar stacks.

The property also includes offices, which are single-storey with a loft, built from whin rubble with ashlar dressings. There are two garages featuring a door, a window, and a jerkinhead loft door. The roof is slated and includes rooflights, skews, and a stack to the right. Additionally, there is a greenhouse adjoining to the south and a rubble garden with crenellated coping to the south.
