Farmsteading, Thornbank, Blebocraigs

This is an early 19th century farmhouse with an attached steading range, which was enlarged in the mid-19th century, raising the cottage portion to two storeys. The farmhouse itself is now three bays wide, with a projecting gabled porch in the centre, topped with a corn-sheaf finial. Gabled dormers sit above the outer bays, and the building is faced with stugged ashlar. The roof is slated, with rectangular end stacks featuring a cavetto cornice. An inscribed stone to the left of the front door bears the inscription "IDFW 1807". A single-storey extension with a large octagonal corner stack projects from the west side. Attached to the east is a long, single-storey range with a pantiled roof and rubble walls, with a two-storey block with double gables and a pantiled roof at the eastern end. Further two-storey, piended, pantiled blocks project southwards at both eastern and western ends. A second single-storey pantiled range, running parallel to the first, connects with the eastern projecting block on its western side. The steading is not depicted on the 1856 Ordnance Survey map.
