J Thomson And Son, Viceroy Street, Kirkcaldy

J Thomson And Son is an early 20th-century workshop located on Viceroy Street in Kirkcaldy. It is a single-storey building with a basement and has a rectangular plan. The structure is made of red brick, featuring polychrome dressings and stone cills, with an eaves course. The windows are a mix of segmental and round-headed styles, with brick dividing pilasters on the east side.

The west entrance elevation has a central bay that has been altered, featuring a large fixed window flanked by sliding, two-leaf, part-glazed timber doors. There are two windows to the left and another window to the right, with a lower building abutting the outer right that is not included in this listing.

The east elevation consists of seven bays with six regularly spaced windows above small basement windows, and a blank bay on the outer left. The windows throughout the building have small-pane glazing patterns in timber sash and case or fixed styles, all of which are round-headed and margined. The roof is covered with purple slates and features a full-width ridge light.

Inside, there is an original belt-driven cast-iron press located in the L-plan basement.
