Description
The water pump and plaque at The Brae in North Queensferry were designed by Glenfield and Kennedy around 1883. The pump is a fluted cylindrical structure made of cast iron from the late 19th century. It features a decorative bucket-rest, a lion-head spout, a ball tap on the right, and a bud finial on top. Behind the pump, there is a cast-iron plaque dating from around 1822, set in a stone casing. The plaque depicts the legend of Europa and the Bull, as well as the struggle between a foreign sailor and a local woman.
