Description

7 Edinburgh Road, known as Wishart Manse, is a villa built in 1868, designed as a manse. It is constructed from stugged grey sandstone ashlar, which is squared and coursed, featuring droved ashlar dressings, base and eaves courses, chamfered reveals, and stone mullions. The building has gabled dormerheads with small blind circular panels.

On the south elevation, there is a deep-set door at the center with a consoled cornice and a fanlight above, leading to modern doors. Above this door is a small bipartite window. To the outer right, there is a bipartite window at ground level, with a first-floor window above that just breaks the eaves in the gabled dormerhead. The outer bay to the left is gabled and advanced, featuring a full-height canted window and a blind arrow slit in the gablehead.

The east elevation has a window on each floor at the center. The west elevation features a set-off chimney breast at the center, dividing the outer bays. Each bay has a ground floor window, with first-floor windows that break the eaves, detailed similarly to the other elevations.

The north elevation is three bays wide, with a stair window at the center and a gabled bay to the outer right. There is a modern conservatory at ground level on this side.

The windows are fitted with plate glass and 4-pane glazing patterns in sash and case style. Other notable features include roll-moulded skewputts, ashlar coped skews, and ball finials, all topped with purple slates.

The property is also accompanied by decorative wrought-iron gates and ashlar gatepiers with chamfered corners and gablet caps.
