Description

17th century. 3-storey and attic, 5-bay crowstepped tenement with stair tower, in irregular terrace. Rubble with roughly squared rubble dressings (some renewed). Chamfered and roll-moulded arrises.

N (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: ground floor with boarded timber door to left of centre at ground and 2 small square windows (not aligned) to left; further part-glazed timber door to right with square window (altered from door) under relieving arch to outer right abutting low projecting buttress. 4 windows (grouped 1-4) to each floor above with 3 catslide-roofed slate-hung dormers above. Projecting stair tower to outer left (adjoining pend entrance from

Market Street) with panelled timber door at ground, small window to each floor of oblique return to right, and polygonal roof above.

W ELEVATION: small modern window to left of crowstepped gable rising above separately listed Nos 5 and 6 Mitchell's Close.

6- and 12-pane glazing patterns in timber sash and case windows, fixed 6-pane glazing to stair tower. Pantiles with slated stair tower. Coped rubble gablehead stack.
